Meena + Jamie

It’s really, really hot. We don’t own an air conditioner. And my giant fancy computer protests the way I treat it by heating up like a furnace and adding to my discomfort. So today, office hours are at night time. But honestly, it’s not much cooler now than it ever was today.

That being said, I was a little weary when I opened up Meena and Jamie’s wedding, because there were SO MANY images of their beautiful love for each other that I knew it was going to be a long time before I could remove myself from the heat cloud. But these images… I sank into them. I forgot the drops of sweat rolling down my upper lip (sweatstache!), because I was so caught up in how deeply love comes across. I look at Meena and Jamie’s wedding and a couple of things take me over. One, WHAT IS THIS THAT IS MY JOB?? I mean, seriously? My job is to hang out with amazing people, on their most amazing day, and bathe in the love and crying and laughter and joy that leaps from my screen into my eyeballs and makes them wet with emotion. And two, just Love. So much love is in the world, and Meena and Jamie grabbed a not so little piece of it for themselves. And for them, there is plenty to go around.

Maui.

Whew. It’s a 24 hour ordeal for the Beans to return home today, and as I sit here in the travel sticky, nausea and delirium (exacerbated by the fact that it’s sweltering and the Bean family air conditioner is a relic of the past), I can only be thankful. Why? Because day before yesterday I swam in the cool and clean waters at the base of this very waterfall with the man I love the most. Sometimes it’s time to put the camera in the trunk and dive in.

Nicole + John

Nicole and John are fellow former theatre kids. The thing about theatre kids, and former theatre kids, is that they are super easy to photograph. That photographic charisma of our youth never seems to get lost in whatever else it is we become. That, and they are awesome. Who’d have thought no one had the brilliant idea to do an engagement session at Old Bethpage Village until these two came along??

Old Bethpage is a place I never knew existed, but one that is AMAZING to shoot at. They have taken these old, beautiful, historic houses from all over Long Island and set them here in an idyllic, period country setting, complete with housewares and people in costume. There’s even a farm there, and below you will find an image of the biggest frakking pig I’ve ever seen. And after spending a day frolicking among these old beautiful houses with one Nicole and John (it doesn’t hurt that they are also fellow and huge LOST fans!), I’m feeling more than a little silly with excitement about their wedding!!
