Judy + Michael

Well I know it’s been a while. Much has been transpiring in the Bean Household, between traveling all over the world, moving, and trying to find some semblance of a routine in a house without Husbone (who is on the road for a few more weeks) and without furniture. I think I’m starting to understand this house which dictates my routine among it’s hallway and dusty but welcoming attic, and the strange methodic chirping of squirrels out my window are starting to feel normal. Settling in.

In the meantime, I thought I’d tell you a bit more about my dear friends, Judy and Michael. Judy and I have known each other from the most awkward of times, that junior high school window where your teeth still have weird ridges and you are subject to Darwinian lessons in Social Skills. I was a big weirdo, and Judy came to my parties. I was always secretly jealous of her, because I thought she was beautiful and even then, quite elegant. In high school, for the most part, we did little more than pass each other in the halls, and the facebook came along, and we were two women living in the City, and I found a new friend among an old acquaintance. It was so much fun getting to know each other again, knowing some basics about one another in a way not many new friendships could offer. Though we were never really close before, still felt like taking a piece of our roots and planting them in our new city. It’s a friendship that is constantly flowering and unfolding, and I’m grateful. And I’m grateful that Judy has Michael.

It’s been a joy, in life and through the chance of photographing their wedding in Greece, in Santorini, to come to know them both. They were a wedding photographers dream. First of all, they got married in Greece of all places, and second, they gave me 2 hours of portraits all over the island and let me do whatever I want, and sent everyone else to drink some wine so they wouldn’t miss us too much. You’ll see. It was pretty awesome. Also, in one try Husbone assisted me in accomplishing my favorite shoe shot ever.

Is it even legal to get married in places so beautiful as this?

Hi Punam, I’ve been checking out your blog for a long time now and just have to say I think you are extremely talented. You are an inspiration to us newbie wedding photographers out there and certainly to the more experienced ones as well!
