A Marriage (elsewhere)!: Jennifer and Jay

I have big deep exhales. What a wonderful trip. And in so many ways I could barely hope to describe. I am so lucky, I pined to Husbone, on many occasions. Jennifer’s family was amazing. Jay’s parent’s were amazing. Jennifer and Jay were AMAZING!! There was so much amazing going on everywhere that I hurt my neck, craning my head around to take everything in. And so it was in Agua Viva, Venezuela, at the hacienda Agua Santa, that Jennifer and Jay proclaimed their love among family and friends, in Jennifer’s wonderful home country. Her mother made the gown from scratch and finished it that morning (amazing!!).

Por favor, perdone mi español. Pero quiero decir muchas gracias por la hospitalidad de sus familias. Sus familias es increíbles, y soy afortunado de haber sido parte de esta celebración increíble. Todos ustedes super super chevere!!

Just a little Spanish, and a little bit more every day. Thank you for such an amazing time. Tune in over the next few days, for a voyage into the Venezuelan wilderness with said people in love. There were jungles among the vastest landscapes I’ve ever even had notions of. Seriously, I couldn’t open my eyes wide enough. And maybe a little bit more on the Husbone and Poo experience, including a trip to Zoologico Bararida en Barquisimeto – with video, free wheeling giant iguanas, and our very first Husbone and Poo “engagement” mini-session via our lovely timer, and Jay!

And when Gabriella cried… well, I just lost it. She’s six years old and her understanding is so beyond her years, I’ve decided that Jennifer and Jay are for some reason lying to me about her age. She is one of the kindest and most romantic kids I’ve ever met. She is so full of joy like her father, so enthusiastic, so genuine. She’s one of the best kids I’ve ever met. I wish she could meet the other best kids I’ve ever met, my sisters daughters, Amora and Sabrina. The three of them together would explode the world in their amazingness.Jennifer and Jay, VenezuelaJennifer and Jay, VenezuelaJennifer and Jay, VenezuelaJennifer and Jay, VenezuelaJennifer and Jay, Venezuela

For the Father Daughter dance, Jay danced with his Gabriella.

The ceremony started 30 minutes late, and by the time it was over, it was pretty dark out. So we grabbed a few shots in the gorgeous night, and decided to pick up the slack at our day after session (coming soon!)Jennifer and Jay, VenezuelaJennifer and Jay, Venezuela

My favorite thing about a Venezuelan wedding… the men are AMAZING dancers! And so are the women of course, and I am mesmerized by the in synchness and the closeness of hips! But it was Jennifer’s sister Wilmary and her boyfriend who I just couldn’t take my eyes off of. they moved with such synchronicity and quiet passion… it was like movie kind of love happening on the dance floor.Jennifer and Jay, VenezuelaJennifer and Jay, Venezuela

This was a strange scene that I stumbled upon. Husbone had a tummy ache and Jay was kind enough to rub his belly.Jennifer and Jay, Venezuela

The end of the festivities are marked by La Hora Loca (The Crazy Hour!) in which everyone goes crazy. Easy enough to understand, and awesome in it’s executionJennifer and Jay, VenezuelaJennifer and Jay, VenezuelaJennifer and Jay, Venezuela

Stay Tuned for adventures in the Venezuelan wilderness!

Awesome! Love the third one down – the lipstick shot. Would love to see that on a huge canvas!! Looks like you had a blast in Venezuela!

Thanks so much Cheyenne!

Viva Venezuela! How colorful, alive, and fun :) Love the emotion in these captured moments! :)

A Marriage (elsewhere)!: Jennifer and Jay (a preview!)

I can barely imagine what it was like, not being here in Venezuela. Jennifer and Jay’s parents have made us feel so welcome and comfortable, so much like home, that it’s hard to imagining we’ve only been here for a couple of days and we only have a couple of days left. I am exhausted. We’ve been going non stop since we got here, and I’m really excited to sleep in tomorrow. But I just had to post just one picture from this amazing wedding at Agua Sante, in a little town known for it’s ceramics and pottery, just outside of Barquisimeto. And also, Jen’s mom made that dress. And Jen made the veil. And Venezuela made the wonderful people (and Ecuador, too!)

Much, much more to come.

An Engagement! Also, a Family!: Jennifer and Jay… and Gabriella

I met Jennifer a few months ago, over the phone and never in person until today. Husbone and I will be shooting her fabulous destination wedding in Venezuela to the fabulous Jay (now I know exactly how fabulous he is, and very) and his lovely, spunky and imaginative daughter/my new assistant. Jennifer and Jay actually went to prom together. It was the love of their life kind of thing, when Jennifer moved back to Venezuela after her student exchange was over. But he’s her lobster. And she’s his. I had such an amazing time with this family, and I can’t wait to spend whole days with them and mine together. (I speak of Husbone!)

These pics are fantastic! What a cute little girl. I absolutely love that you referenced Phoebe! I tell my Hubby he is my lobster all the time. Or dog’s middle name is also Princess Conseula Banana Hammock. I think I need to get a life!

A Marriage!: Jennifer and Jose

Day two of my lovely weekend was spent with Jennifer and Jose. There is something about two people in love dancing that really gets me. But then there are two families. One is Irish, one is Peruvian, and they embrace each other. All the Peruvian family is dancing a jig to Irish songs and singing along. All the Irish family are swinging their hips to Marc Anthony. Oh, yeah, and then there was that one song. And Jennifer lit up, and Jose swept her off her feet, and the exchange was so rich and rife with love that I just couldn’t keep it together. I cried and I cried so hard I felt a bit silly. And THEN Jennifer’s brother proceeded to sing Quando Quando Quando in a buttery Micheal Buble voice, and I just couldn’t take it anymore. I cried at the amazing volume of love in the room between these two people, and these two families. I am humbled and honored to have been a part of the record keeping of the amazing, amazing day.

Engagement!: Jennifer and Jose (and a trip to Coney Island!)

I have lived in this great city for about 8 years now, and I’d never been to Coney Island. I’m not sure the thought of it even ever really crossed my mind… I mean, I’ve seen it in movies, I’ve heard about it, I always knew it was around. But it wasn’t until Jennifer suggested we do their engagement session there that I thought DUH! That will be awesome!

And so, the young woman from Long Island, who found herself in Peru, and the Young man from Peru who found himself in love, are getting married, and I found them to be delightful. And beautiful. And we took so many photographs. And I seriously was salivating when I came home, so excited to post these, only, I just couldn’t make a decision. When I went through and marked the winners, I had more images than one post can swallow. So I just started attacking at random (kind of how like the mosquitoes are attacking me right now.)

And speaking of mosquitoes, I just have to say, that my house is filled with them at the moment. My little kitty, Walter, he’s the shy, not very smart one, ripped a whole in the screen window that keeps our home ventilated. He ripped a hole in it and crawled out on to the deck, and waited there, convinced that he couldn’t get back into the house the way he got out. So he just sat there, and cried, and waiting for rescue. But the mosquitoes were much smarter than poor Walter. And so I replaced the screen when I came home. All by myself (mostly). And I am like a proud momma. Of a screen. And I am also a T Bone steak. For the mosquitoes.

And now! Pictures! (We’ll start of with the delightful couple, and finish it off with some pictures my Husbone and I took in this colorful place).

Husbone and I got there about an hour early. We had planned on being early, but we didn’t expect the unusual phenomenon of Brooklyn barely having any traffic. And we learned on our drive that there’s an Ikea in Brooklyn!! Woo Hoo!!

Best. Hot Dog. I’ve ever. Had.

FABULOUS! LOVE the EMOTION, LAUGHTER, AFFECTION, WIND, ENERGY in the pics-especially in the beach pictures.

Gorgeous shots, love! What an awesome location! You could shot every engagement session there, and still have new fodder for images! What a perfect sunset. And about the Nathan’s…ooohhhh yeahhhh. They were my first hot dog. I was born in Atlanta, and my Mom used to take James and I to the mall when we were little and the Nathan’s crew would cut up dogs into little toddler-sized pieces for us to eat. Apparently (according to my mother)…this pleased us immensely.
